For the past few day I have been Painting seabirds which i have wanted to paint for some time now.

The most important nesting ground for Northern gannets is the UK, with about two thirds of the world’s population. These live mainly in Scotland,  including the Shetland Islands.

something funny : the term Gannet is used to refer to people who steadily eat vast quantities of food especially at public functions.

GHOSTS OF GONE BIRDS

Moonko collective have been representing my work for over a year now, exhibiting and selling my original artwork. Recently they have invited me to take part in the Ghosts of Gone Birds exhibition, which seeks to raise money and awareness for the BirdLife International’s Preventing extinction programme by holding yearly exhibitions and projects that involve creativity.

Painting for the Exhibition “Be Hospitable” from the Souvenir Collective at Camp and Furnace

Soyu Invited me down to Liverpool to paint a commissioned feature wall with my birds  for the exhibition,

Which would see the launch of Liverpool’s Art Biennial 2012 .

The other week i flew out to Bulgaria, after being invited by Amorpha Youth Group & BSPB (Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds), I was ask to paint at the second annual Kite Festival in Shabla North Bulgaria. The event is to raise awareness for the protection of the Red Breasted goose areas in which they reside during the winter periods in Bulgaria. The locations are under great risk from farming, building development and windfarms. This special location where 80% of the worlds population of the geese spend their winter.

During the two days i stayed in the area, i learnt alot about the importance of the project and think similar projects in the UK would work very well. The BSPB felt that involving the community and young people to learn about these birds which are at risk, does encourage a better understanding on how to care for their local nature.

They have recently invited me to collaborate with them on an exciting group exhibition which they are involved with for the launch of Liverpools “Biennial”

So i will be painting a mural ready for the launch on the Thursday 20th!

The Exhibition will be themed on “Hospitality”, and will feature an interesting mix of artists that form the Souvenir Collective 

The Show will be shown first at Camp & Furnace in Liverpools Baltic Triangle (21-29th September) before traveling to East London and then New York City in 2013.

The collective hopes to be made to feel welcome in every city it visits in 2012 and beyond.

Near Varna, in assoiciation with the RSPB & BSPB  (Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds)

The red breasted goose is a threatened wildfowl species, and the BSPB is trying to raise awareness to protect its environment during the winter months,  As the location of Dobrudzha in Bulgaria is where 90% of the Red breast goose population live for the winter months.

“Red-breasted Geese face a number of threats along their migration flyway, and in the project sites specifically. The threats faced by this species are among the most pertinent to waterbird conservation, including agricultural changes, hunting and development pressures.” BSPB

The Kite Festival at Shabla aims to raise the awareness for this special bird, Each year they invite artists to paint at this event.

I have been to Bulgaria several times in the past, and i l00k forward to my visit there this time, especially to paint for a cause.

After lots of hard work at the Windsor and Newton headquarters, Liquitex has recently released its spraypaint in America back in February , and was scheduled for a launch in the UK in June. But due to high sales and a big demand, the launch was set back a month or two. Now the time has come that Liquitex  are  celebrating the launch of their new spraypaint by holding an exhibition at the Griffin Gallery , In their HQ.

Artists including myself will be painting live, using the new spraypaint alongside liquitex’s other art products.  Some of the artists who are also involved in the project include Eyesaw, Miss Led, Graffiti Kings and many more (See Above)

The exclusive Private View of the Liquitex Professional Street Art / Fine Art exhibition commences at 4.00pm until 7.00pm.

There will be an opportunity to speak to the artists, as well as learning more about and sampling the product, which has been developed for professional artists, combining artist grade pigments with revolutionary water-based technology.

Furthermore, if you’d like to see the artists in action, there’s also the option of joining us during an afternoon session, starting at 12 noon, when the artworks are being created in real-time before going on display in the Gallery. We’d love you to join us for what is sure to be a really interesting and exciting event – please do let us know by email return if you are able to attend and how many of you will be coming.
