ARTAQ – 2nd URBAN ARTS AWARDS

ARTAQ

ARTAQ intends to encourage the most representative artists in Street Art and Urban Arts, helps them to promote their works and their reputation at the hands of art collectors, art professionals, galleries, press and large public.

In  Jan 2011 I submitted artworks to ARTAQ by both my other half Rocket and Myself, and learnt later than a few of our artworks had been nominated in the awards. This meant that the artwork would be featured in the ARTAQ 2011 2nd EDITION publication. The highest awards was given to talent such as Belin and Spok from Spain, and the likes of OLEK from USA, and SUENO MARCO from Peru.

The reason i like ARTAQ is because it does not just nominate artists from a small selection of deciders, but Artists from around the world can submit artwork  and have their work judged on reasons more than just “is the artist doing well or is this type of style in fashion”, Which with many awards is the case of biased voting. People who run the competitions easily look past a talented artist who may not be as established.

Just like real graffiti and street art love, these awards are for fun and also respected, run by genuine art lovers, it has shown to be extremely popular around the world. The book for 2011 is available to purchase, view the links at the bottom to learn more.

What is ARTAQ

Artaq honors each year artists who make Urban Arts evolve in all its categories and forms (tags, stencils, graffiti, wall painting, performances in situ, painting, digital art…).
With the aim of being the most respected selection in which artists want to be part of, the selection level and the jury’s criteria are very high.
The aim is not to award points or elect a  ‘best artist of the year’,but to present an overview of the artists who marked the year.
